The Westhorpe Community Support Facebook Group is a place for Westhorpe residents to share information, news and messages, including offers of support or requests for help when needed at this difficult time.
Everyone in the village is welcome to join and write posts or share posts they have seen elsewhere that may be useful for Westhorpe residents. It is a private group so only members of the group will be able to see anything written or shared on the group’s page.
You might like to share news about local delivery schemes or services that can make social distancing and self-isolation easier or pass on information that you think people should know. You can use the group to ask if anyone has something you need if you can't get to the shops or the shelves are empty when you get there. Or you may just like to start a conversation or share something that boosts everyone's spirits…
The group can be found at www.facebook.com/groups/westhorpe
If you aren’t yet a member and have a Facebook account please head to the page and click ‘Join group’. Any member of the group can then approve your request so you can see the group’s posts.
You won’t be able to see any posts if you aren’t a member. If you don’t use Facebook at all but would like to start, this tutorial is quite a good guide: https://www.lifewire.com/tutorial-how-facebook-works-2654610
Once you have a Facebook account you can then join the group by going to www.facebook.com/groups/westhorpe and clicking ‘Join group’. Once another member has approved your request you can then start reading and sharing posts.
To post to the page just write in the ‘Write post’ box at the top of the page. You can also add any photos you would like to share from your phone or computer.
If you share a website page a preview will automatically be included with your post.
To share other people’s Facebook posts to the page just click ‘Share’ underneath the post and then ‘Share in a group’ and select ‘Westhorpe Community Support’.
Members can also be invited to become Admins. This doesn’t mean they have to do anything else for the page, it just means give them the ability to invite others to join the group and edit the page however they wish!
