Westhorpe Village Hall Limited

 

Westhorpe Village Hall Limited is an incorporated charity.  It was incorporated in November 2011 and registered with the Charity Commission in June 2014.

The company was set up with the intention of building and running a new community hall, with leisure activities and functions to help maintain and build a thriving self-supporting community and minimise any feelings of isolation.

Prior to 2011 a Steering Group had investigated community interest in replacing the existing village hall which was beyond its useful life.  Support was very strong and a Village Hall Management Committee was formed. 

In the next few years much effort was put into fundraising.  In November 2015 we were awarded a massive grant of £451,820 from the Big Lottery Fund.  Along with the funds raised by the village residents and those contributed by Westhorpe Trust, Mid Suffolk District Council and Suffolk County Council this meant the project could go ahead.

After a few delays, work started on site in July 2016 and was completed in January 2017.  The hall was officially opened in March 2017.
